Luxemburry / Government / Currency and Coinage
The currency of the Realm of Luxemburry is the Luxfranc, symbol Lf, divided into 100 Shards. Under Article IX of the Charter it is the only coin required of a Luxian, and it has been struck by the Treasury of the Realm in Valdoria since 1724.
One Luxfranc is 100 Shards. The Shard is named for the fragments of the Stone Heart that, in the founding legend, became the rivers and valleys of the Realm. Luxians say a thing "costs a shard" when it costs almost nothing.
| Coin | Metal | Face |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Shard | Copper | A pine tree |
| 10 Shards | Copper | The Silvershine bridge at Valdoria |
| 50 Shards | Silver | Mount Cinder |
| 1 Luxfranc | Silver | The gold lion of the flag |
| 5 Luxfrancs | Silver | The arms of the Realm |
| 20 Luxfrancs | Gold | The portrait coin of the reign |
Once in each reign the Treasury strikes a 20 Luxfranc gold coin, and a silver companion, bearing the portrait of the High Warden. Two are in circulation today.

The portrait coin of Zevi Abselet II has not yet been struck. By custom it is issued in the fifth year of a reign.
The Treasury issues notes of 10, 50, and 100 Luxfrancs, printed in Valdoria on paper made in Aethelgard. Each carries the map of the Realm on one side and a view of one of the five regions on the other.
The Treasury of the Realm stands beside the Council Hall. The Treasurer presents the account of the Realm to the Council each June. Visitors may exchange francs, euros, and Swiss francs at the Treasury window and at the four resorts.
The Luxian way of saying a thing costs almost nothing. One hundred Shards to the Luxfranc, since 1724.
